Community Engagement
Community Engagement Policy
Governance
The CEO establishes the company-wide community contribution strategy framework and social contribution project plans through an organization dedicated to community engagement and ESG. These projects are then executed by implementation teams at each business site. Annually, the CEO reports the performance and plans of the social contribution projects to the ESG Committee under the Board of Directors, and key issues are deliberated through the ESG Committee and decided upon by the Board.

Social Contribution Strategy
SK Gas has aligned its community contribution efforts with the UN SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), selecting four key themes Green, Health, Hope, and Shared Growth that resonate with our business operations and the specific characteristics of the regions where we operate. Correspondingly, social contribution projects are developed and implemented at each business site to reflect local needs and attributes. Furthermore, we have expanded the scope of our human rights impact assessments to include local communities, actively seeking input from local resident representatives and environmental organizations to incorporate their perspectives into our social contribution initiatives.
Green
① Happy Green School Project
Through our 'Happy Green School' program, where SK Gas employees volunteer as one-day teachers to provide environmental education to elementary school students near our business sites, we contribute to raising eco-consciousness among the students and foster communication with the local community on environmental topics.

② Endangered Species Conservation Sponsorship Recognition System
In August 2020, SK Gas signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Institute of Ecology to collaborate on ecosystem conservation and social value creation. Starting with the habitat management of flying squirrels in the upper reaches of the Taehwa River in Ulsan, SK Gas has also undertaken projects such as publishing and distributing environmental accordion books and conducting ecological surveys. These efforts earned SK Gas a recognition certificate from the National Institute of Ecology for its contributions to endangered species conservation.

③ Ecosystem Conservation Projects and SE Bridge Projects
SK Gas collaborates with local environmental organizations in Seongnam, Ulsan, and Pyeongtaek, where our business sites are located, as well as the National Institute of Ecology, to conduct ecosystem conservation projects. Furthermore, we identify and support social enterprises specializing in environmental and ecological conservation, thereby contributing to the creation of social value in the ecological sector. SK Gas is also an active member of BNBP (Biz N Biodiversity Platform), our company's biodiversity conservation initiative.
Health
SK Gas promotes humanities-based social contribution projects with the goals of disseminating humanities, supporting individual mental well-being, and building cultural infrastructure within local communities.
SK Gas "Spreading Happiness in the Community" Framework

- Transforming attitudes and thoughts through humanities
- Gaining insights, experiencing freedom, and practicing love and care through meditation
- Spreading a culture of reading, thinking, and sharing
- Plato Academy
- KAIST Meditation Science Research Institute
- Jigwanseoga
①Jigwan Community Book Cafes
To enhance the quality of life for local residents by establishing hubs for the dissemination of humanities and culture, SK Gas is developing and operating Jigwan Community Book Cafes centered around regions where our business sites are located, including Ulsan and Pyeongtaek. The Jigwan Community Book Cafe project not only promotes the spread of humanities but also contributes to improving the life stability of local residents by creating new job opportunities through collaboration with local public institutions, social cooperatives, senior citizen centers, and local bookstores.

② Humanities Education: Foundation Academia Platonica
SK Gas supports the Plato Academy Foundation, which deepens and spreads 'reflective humanities' that pursue universal human spirit and excellence in character. The foundation is the first pure humanities research support foundation in Korea, aiming to establish and spread correct values about happiness through education and support projects. It is divided into humanities deepening projects and humanities dissemination projects. The deepening projects include support for scholars and research institutions, both domestically and internationally. The dissemination projects support world-class humanities research to lay the foundation for the long-term spread of humanities to the public.
③ Support for KAIST Center for Contemplative Science
SK Gas has signed a donation agreement with the KAIST Meditation Science Research Institute to secure excellent faculty and support scientific deepening research for meditation studies. The institute aims to improve national mental health through the spread of meditation science by developing AI-based meditation science platforms and programs, and training meditation science professionals.
Hope
① Operation of ‘Hope Maker’
SK Gas operates the 'Hope Maker' program, centered around our business sites, to support children and adolescents from low-income families. The financial resources for the Hope Maker program are raised through monthly donations from SK Gas employees, matched by the company, and are utilized to run both monetary and non-monetary programs. Monetary support includes monthly sponsorships and holiday gifts provided to the supported children and adolescents until their university graduation. The non-monetary program, 'Hope Maker School,' offers a variety of activities such as after-school career and aptitude counseling, academic mentoring, and year-end events, all designed to support the emotional growth of the participating youth.

② Improving Quality of Life for Vulnerable Groups
SK Gas participates in initiatives such as the 'Clean Day' project and the Happiness Alliance to support the livelihood stability of vulnerable groups within the community.
As part of our efforts to prevent food insecurity among low-income vulnerable populations, our employees participate in preparing and delivering homemade side dishes to residents living alone and residents with disabilities within the community, and we also provide separate health education. Furthermore, through the Clean Day project, we collaborate with local welfare centers and other organizations to support households with poor living conditions among low-income individuals and senior citizens living alone by providing assistance such as repainting balconies and installing screen doors.
The Happiness Alliance is an organization initiated with the purpose of providing meals to children experiencing food insecurity through the joint participation of corporations, the government, and the general public. SK Gas has been a member of the Happiness Alliance since 2020, actively engaging in the 'Happiness Meal' project.
