Community Engagement Policy

Governance

The CEO establishes the company-wide community contribution strategy framework and social contribution project plans through an organization dedicated to community engagement and ESG. These projects are then executed by implementation teams at each business site. Annually, the CEO reports the performance and plans of the social contribution projects to the ESG Committee under the Board of Directors, and key issues are deliberated through the ESG Committee and decided upon by the Board.

Social Contribution Strategy

SK Gas has aligned its community contribution efforts with the UN SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), selecting four key themes Green, Health, Hope, and Shared Growth that resonate with our business operations and the specific characteristics of the regions where we operate. Correspondingly, social contribution projects are developed and implemented at each business site to reflect local needs and attributes. Furthermore, we have expanded the scope of our human rights impact assessments to include local communities, actively seeking input from local resident representatives and environmental organizations to incorporate their perspectives into our social contribution initiatives.

① Operation of ‘Hope Maker’

SK Gas operates the 'Hope Maker' program, centered around our business sites, to support children and adolescents from low-income families. The financial resources for the Hope Maker program are raised through monthly donations from SK Gas employees, matched by the company, and are utilized to run both monetary and non-monetary programs. Monetary support includes monthly sponsorships and holiday gifts provided to the supported children and adolescents until their university graduation. The non-monetary program, 'Hope Maker School,' offers a variety of activities such as after-school career and aptitude counseling, academic mentoring, and year-end events, all designed to support the emotional growth of the participating youth.

② Improving Quality of Life for Vulnerable Groups

SK Gas participates in initiatives such as the 'Clean Day' project and the Happiness Alliance to support the livelihood stability of vulnerable groups within the community.
As part of our efforts to prevent food insecurity among low-income vulnerable populations, our employees participate in preparing and delivering homemade side dishes to residents living alone and residents with disabilities within the community, and we also provide separate health education. Furthermore, through the Clean Day project, we collaborate with local welfare centers and other organizations to support households with poor living conditions among low-income individuals and senior citizens living alone by providing assistance such as repainting balconies and installing screen doors.
The Happiness Alliance is an organization initiated with the purpose of providing meals to children experiencing food insecurity through the joint participation of corporations, the government, and the general public. SK Gas has been a member of the Happiness Alliance since 2020, actively engaging in the 'Happiness Meal' project.
