Environmental Management
Environmental Management System
Policy and System
As an importer and distributor of LPG and LNG, SK Gas recognizes the importance of sustainable management of natural resources and raw materials, maintaining natural ecosystems, and preserving biodiversity. We strive to prevent and minimize factors and elements that threaten these aspects and, if necessary, restore or compensate for any damage.
Currently, SK Gas’s storage terminals in Ulsan and Pyeongtaek are located within regional industrial complexes, which are not situated within environmentally protected areas defined by international agreements or domestic laws. Future projects will also avoid such protected areas.
When constructing new sites, we will conduct preliminary environmental impact assessments as required by relevant regulations, identifying factors that may cause land contamination or threaten biodiversity and taking preventive measures. We will actively communicate with local residents through public hearings and work to address their concerns.
SK Gas places top priority on environmental protection and safety as essential management tasks to minimize environmental impacts from business activities and to ensure a pleasant and safe working and living environment for all members.
Environmental Management Policies and Certifications
To minimize environmental risks and enhance the level of environmental management, SK Gas has established and promoted environmental management policies. Governance
The SHE Planning Group, under the Company-wide SHE Chief Officer (CEO), plans and manages the environmental policies of SK Gas's business sites and establishes the company's environmental management strategy. Major environmental issues are reviewed and considered by the ESG Committee under the Board of Directors, as documented in the committee's regulations. Each year, the CEO reports to the ESG Committee on environmental performance, plans for the following year, management policies, the composition and roles of management organizations, budget, and facility status. Approved agendas are then confirmed at the Board's main meeting. The environmental performance indicators are reflected in the KPIs of the CEO and responsible management and are considered in their evaluations and compensation. Compensation details related to environmental performance for key management are disclosed in the half-yearly/annual business reports under the "Executive Compensation Details" section.
